Third Generation IV game to be released this fall

The third companion to Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Versions, Pokémon Platinum Version (ポケットモンスタープラチナ), was officially announced today. The game, much like Emerald of the previous generation, features different outfits for the protagonists, an altered storyline (now with Giratina appearing at Mt. Coronet), and a new, Battle Frontier-like area known as Battle Island. Giratina also appears in its previously-announced Origin Form.
The information provided on the official Japanese Pokémon Web site is essentially the same as that in the magazines. The site provides two in-game screen shots and some basic facts.
