山口由里子 Yuriko Yamaguchi, the Japanese voice actress of Nurse Joy, is on maternity leave. The fate of Nurse Joy is unknown, according to Pokeani; however, it is possible another actress will substitute.

This is the fourth time a recurring voice actress has gone on maternity/medical leave. 林原めぐみ Megumi Hayashibara, 西村ちなみ Chinami Nishimura and 大谷育江 Ikue Ohtani all took leave during the Advanced Generation series. Other actresses filled in with the exception of Satoshi's Pikachu which was voiced with stock footage.
